First Responders Should Be Last To Go

My heart is breaking for the Bossier City police officers, firefighters and other city workers who face being laid off because of budget problems.
You know things are really bad when a city has no choice but to start getting rid of first responders.  It’s scary to think the same poor economy that’s causing crime to [...]

Put Up Your Dukes

Tonight’s the night!!!!
This year’s annual “Battle of the Badges” competition promises to be one helluva a fight.   One police officer is coming all the way from Georgia and some of the firefighters are coming from Monroe and Longview.  Of course, I’d be wrong if I didn’t mention all the Shreveport/Caddo/Bossier men and women who [...]

Knock! Knock! Who’s Bare?

Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
Â
This is why it’s always a good idea to put some clothes on when someone knocks at your door!
It just wouldn’t be cop-like if police didn’t pull some half-naked person out of a house every once in awhile. Â
This man was wanted on a federal warrant out of Iowa for sexual exploitation of a minor.  Authorities found him in [...]

Everybody Hurts

It’s an extremely sad day for law enforcement.Â
This afternoon, a Beauregard Parish deputy was killed when the SUV he was driving collided with an 18-wheeler just south of Shreveport.  Three other deputies were injured in the same crash.
These stories are so difficult for me.  My heart and prayers go out to the victims’ family and fellow [...]

Fishin’ For Life!

Â
Â
Â
Â
I’ll be the first to admit, I hate to fish, but I do love to help those in need and if doing a little fishing means helping a firefighter.. sign me up!
Shreveport Firefighters are holding a “Tommy Adams Bass Tournament” Arpil 10th to raise money for the chief and his family.
Adams fell off a truck [...]

Where do we draw the line?

Â
As you all know my twin brother is a NYC Police Officer.  Last weekend, he was rushed to the hospital after some crackhead kicked him in the head during an arrest.
This happened the same day four officers in California were shot and killed by some maniac.
Here’s what I don’t understand.  Where is the outcry????
Why is [...]

Home Is Where The Heat Is

 Â
I’ll never understand why all these prison escapees go straight back home once they break out.  Don’t they realize it’s one of the first places authorities look?  I guess if they were smart, they wouldn’t be in prison to begin with.   Â
I have to give props to Shreveport Polce, Bossier City Police, Louisiana State [...]

Leggo’ My Veto!

That much anticipated and celebrated (by some) pay raise for Shreveport police officers has come and gone.
Mayor Cedric Glover used his VETO pen to strike the plan approved by city council last week.  Glover says there just isn’t any money in the budget for such a plan.  Councilman Bryan Wooley says there is.  He says the raise [...]

Tough Night On The Town

It was a busy and tense night in Shreveport for police officers. The very night one officer returns to work after getting shot in the face, a man pulls out a gun and points it at another officer.  The gun turned out to be a BB gun, but that doesn’t make a difference.  It looked like [...]
