Pity The Fool? I Don’t Think So.

Late last night, I was watching a show about junkies. Besides abusing drugs, they all had one thing in common. They wanted people to feel sorry for them. FAT CHANCE!
I’m sorry, but I just can’t sympathize with people who knowingly put that crap in their bodies then think the world should owe them something because they messed up.
There’s not one person living today who doesn’t know drugs can ruin lives. One hundred years ago, maybe… but not today!
Some people call drug-addiction a disease. I call it a weakness. Cancer is a disease and the last time I checked, I haven’t read any reports where people knowingly put that in their body.
I smoke. I admit it because there’s no use trying to hide it. My clothes stink, my truck reeks and people can smell me before I walk in the door. Nicotine is a drug… and it is very very addictive. As addicted to it as I am… I will not go around expecting people to feel sorry for me.
Nobody held a gun to my head and forced me to light up… and I doubt that was the case for all the junkies out there.
We all make poor decisions in life and we’re forced to live with them, but asking people to feel sorry for us because of something we knew was wrong is just ridiculous.
Let Mr. T pity the fool. I don’t have the patience.
Everything in your blog rings true!! Keep up the good work, Chris!!
Well, I seldom come across anyone else who wants to hold people responsible for their own behavior. I grew up with Alcoholics Anonymous putting PSA’s on the air saying that alcoholism is a disease, and that for people who do not have that disease, drinking alcohol is just a wonderful thing to do. I am just very fortunate that I had a father who told me that was BS every time it aired, and told me that everybody who gets drunk regularly becomes a drunkard, and not just certain people who have a disease. He told me that he was addicted to smoking, and that he would have a “nicotine fit” every time he tried to quit. He warned me about pot and other drugs being habit forming, and that he knew from his experience with tobacco. I believed him, but I just did not know how easy it was to become addicted to smoking, and I also got hooked as soon as I joined the army. It was the hardest thing I ever did, but I have been free from tobacco for over 15 years now. Thanks for telling the truth, Chris!
I am all for helping people get back on their feet, but I refuse to carry them on my back! Drugs, financial aid, whatever…
There is a girl that goes to my church that is obsessed with the sun and tanning. A few years ago she was practically competing with another girl to see who could get the darkest. I saw her last week and thought to myself, “she’s the next person we will be having a fund-raiser for because she gets skin cancer.” No, I don’t feel sorry for these morons who intentionally do things that they know will harm their bodies.
WHY IS IT ALL THE NICE LOOKING PEOPLE WITH GOOD PERSONALITY AND A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR HAVE A SMOKING ADDICTION. IT IS BAD FOR THEM AND THEY ADMIT IT IS BUT WON’T QUIT OR DO NOT TRY HARD ENOUGH TO QUIT. I HAVE COPD CHRONIC BRONCITIUS AND I HAVE NEVER SMOKED A DAY IN MY LIFE. I HAVE A SMOKER’S HACK ESPICALLY IN MORNING. THAT IS WHY I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY ANYONE WOULD WANT TO HAVE THIS AWFUL DISEASE THAT SMOKERS GET FROM SMOKING CIGARETTES. THEY KNOW THEY WILL END UP WITH WHAT I HAVE OR CANCER. IT JUST DOES NOT MAKE ANY F$%#@*! SENSE TO ME.
Chris - I completely agree with you. I cannot deal with people asking someone to help them out because of what they did to themselves. I also agree with April - everytime something happens to someone that they did to themselves, we, as a community, try to help somehow. All knowing that we have a problem and aren’t expecting anyone to take care of us. My brother irritates me so bad, but I guess I just don’t understand - he is addicted to pills. Where he gets them, I don’t wanna know! How he gets them, don’t wanna know that either! He doesn’t have a job, no income at all, lives in a hotel room, by the week, how? Don’t know. Anyway, it’s always help me with this, loan me that, can I borrow this! UGH!!!! I don’t pity him at all, even though he is my brother.
